Short Itinerary:

Day 1: Pick up from Shimla to Chitkul(3535meters) Night stay in Hotel

Trek Starts :-

Day 2: Chitkul (3435 meter) to Nagasthi - Rani Kanda (3700 meter) ?10 km 5 hr trek .

Day 3: Rani Kanda to Dumti (4050 meter) - 9 km/5 hr trek. 

Day 4: Dumti to Gundar (4450 meter) - 15km/7 hr trek

Day 5: Gundar (4400 mts) to Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp (4400 meter)

Day 6: Lamkhaga Pass BC to Base Camp 2 (Kinnaur) 

Day 7: Lamkhaga Pass BC(Kinnaur) to Lamkhaga Pass BC (Gangotri Side) via Lamkhaga Pass (5282 mts/17320 ft) / 14432 ft) 11 km/6 - 7 hr trek

Day 8: Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp to Kyarkoti (3820 meter) - 16 km/7 - 8 hr trek

Day 9: Kyarkoti to Harsil (2400 meter) - 14 km/6-7 hr trek

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 01: Shimla – Chitkul

Reception at Shimla and drive from Shimla to Chitkul via Kufri and Narkanda after breakfast. Dinner and overnight stay in Chitkul in guest house/ village home stay.

Day 02: Chitkul – Nagasthi – Rani Kanda

Chitkul is the last village in Baspa valley and is located on the true right bank of the river. The valley of Sangla is 26 kms from Chitkul and is very beautiful and one of the best in Kinnaur. We start the trek from Chitkul and trek up to Rani Kanda. Dinner and overnight stay in tents in Rani Kanda.

Day 03: Rani Kanda – Dumti

Today we trek through and cascading waterfalls and flowery meadows to reach Dumti. Dinner and overnight stay in tents in Dumti.

Day 04: Dumti – Gundar

Start the day from Dumti and trek upto Gundar. We follow the Baspa River all along and cross several small streams along the way to reach Gundar.

Day 05: Gundar – Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp

It could be a tough day depending upon the snow conditions and so an early start is recommended. The climb is steep and may require some technical gear. Dinner and overnight stay in tents at the base camp.

Day 06: Lamkhaga Pass Base Camp – Base camp II (Kinnaur)

Today we trek from the base camp to the base camp II on the Kinnaur side. The climb is steep and on snow. We start early because at times it might take longer than expected.

Day 07: Base camp II (Kinnaur) – Lamkhaga Pass – Base camp III (Gangotri)

Today we start our final ascent to the Lamkhaga Pass and we cross the mountain pass and get over to the base camp on the Gangotri side. The climb is steep and might require technical gear.

Day 08: Base camp III (Gangotri) – Kyorkati

Today we descend down from the base camp to Kyorkati at the mouth of the glacier which is a meadow. We pitch our tents here and camp for the night.

Day 09: Kyorkati – Harsil

The final leg of the trek is through very beautiful and through thick forests, numerous waterfalls and unnamed streams. We finally reach Harsil and rest for the night in village homestays or tents. Next morning we depart for Uttarkashi.

Terms and Conditions

Minimum 6 and Maximum 10 people in a batch.

Things To Carry:

  • Backpack (70-90 liter) for multi days treks.
  • Trekking Boots – High ankle support boots.
  • Trek Gaiter – To prevent snow/moisture seeping inside the boot.
  • Trekking Pole.
  • Down Jacket – Thick, windproof material, fleece and feather based recommended.
  • Trek Pants – (at least 2 Trek Pants), no Jeans. Synthetic, Quick Dry fabric based Trek Pants are ideal.
  • Full sleeve woolen/fleece – (at least 2).
  • Full sleeve T-Shirts – (at least 4).
  • Thermal Inner – (for Lower body recommended/ upper is optional).
  • Balaclava.
  • Sunglasses – Is a must for snow trek. UV rated ones.
  • Handgloves.
  • Socks – (2 pair of woolen and 2 pairs of cotton socks).
  • Waterbottle – (2 water bottle, each 1 liter). Avoid plastic drinking bottles.
  • Toiletries (Sunscreen – SPF 60+, moisturizer, light towel, lip balm/chap stick, small soap, toilet paper, wet tissue).
  • Headlamp / LED Torch.
  • Energy bars/dry fruits.
  • Medicine Kit.
Cancellation Policy
  • Cancellations prior to 30 days from the start of the trek — full refund.
  • Cancellation between 30 days and 10 days to the start of the trek — 50% refund.
  • Cancellation less than 10 days to the start of the trek — no refund.

The Lamkhaga (17,363ft.) is one of the famous passes on Dhouladhar Ridge, which connects Garhwal Himalaya and Himachal Pradesh. This unconventional high altitude trek starts from Chitkul Kinnaur To Harsheel In Uttrakhand. The Lamkhaga Pass that connects the north-eastern Garhwal and Himachal Pradesh is bounded by a tantalizing landscape of snow filled mountains and mysterious atmosphere. Trailing across the ranges brings the adventure freaks the precarious crossing of glaciers and streams gaining over 8000 ft in the space from Harsil at 9000 ft to 17335 ft at the pass. Trekking across the Lamkhaga Pass brings the fascinating walks, picnics and hiking around the undiscovered stretches of green, grassy land.
