Day 1 / 28th February 2018: Arrive in Paro, country orientation followed by a cultural sightseeing of the Paro fortress/monastery, national museum and a stroll in the market.

Day 2 / 1st March 2018: Acclimatization hike to the Tigers Nest Monastery Or you may also choose to ride a horse on the ascent to rest the legs ahead of the marathon. Later in the afternoon we drive one hour to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan.

Day 3 / 2nd March 2018: We enjoy a morning drive via the panoramic Dochula pass and then descend into the sub-tropical Punakha valley before noon. In Punakha, we will visit the imposing Punakha Dzong (the castle of happiness) and explore both the full and half marathon routes. The drive will give you a sense of the place and prep you well for the challenge tomorrow. Later in the afternoon, we will attend the mandatory pre-race briefing and collect our race packet.

Day 4 / 3rd March 2018: Today is the Bhutan International Marathon day. The program for the full marathon kicks off at 6 AM as you make your way to the starting point on the foothills of Gasa. The half marathon begins from north Punakha.  Both the events finish at the grand Punakha Dzong. In the evening, we attend the awards presentation ceremony and the celebratory dinner hosted by the Bhutan Olympic Committee.

Day 5 / 4th March 2018:  We drive from Punakha to Thimphu for sightseeing. While in Thimphu, we will be visiting all the major areas of interest.

Day 6 / 5th March 2018:  After sightseeing in Thimphu, we drive one hour to Paro. In the afternoon, there will also be plenty of options to enjoy some sights in the valley. Leisure and shopping (if you wish to buy some authentic Bhutanese Hand Crafts) at evening.

Day 7 / 6th March 2018: Transfer to the Paro International Airport for your onward travels.

  • On your full or half marathon, the route traverses through wide open valleys, scenic mountainsides, idyllic countryside, rice fields, monasteries, wayside markets and pristine forests before finishing at the historic Punakha Dzong. You’ll also discover the geographical and cultural wonders of a country naturally designed to be a tantalizing destination for adventure and spiritual seekers.

  • A Hike to Taktshang - Taktshang means “Tiger Nest” named after Guru Rinpoche reportedly flew to this site riding on the back of a flying tigress late in the 9th century. We have to walk about 2hours up steep from the road end. You can also take horse ride if you are not able to walk. The trail climbs through beautiful pine forest, many of the trees festooned with Spanish moss, and an occasional grove of fluttering prayer flags. Paro Taktshang is one of the holiest places in the world.

  • Punakha Dzong: Punakha Dzong (the Palace of Great Happiness) built in 1637 by the Zhabdrung. The Dzong is beautifully located in between the two rivers called Pho (male) and Mo (female) Chhu (river). It was the capital of Bhutan till 1955.

  • Sightseeing in other may beautiful places like Thimphu, Paro & Punakha.

Terms and Conditions
  • Tour Price: The price attached above is in terms of INR per person. Minimum of 6 Person is required to avail the above price. Tour price will be different (cheaper) for 8 and more person in a group. Larger the number of guests lesser will be the per head cost. 
  • VISA: Visa can be obtained at the port of entry on producing a valid passport with a minimum of 6 month validity. Indian nationals may also use their Voters Identity Card in place of passport. Your passport / VIC needs to have at least 6 months’ validity calculated from the date on which you head Bhutan. Your Bhutan visa will be arranged by us and the actual visa is stamped into your passport on arrival at Paro Airport.
Cancellation Policy

Once booked, the tours that are cancelled are subject to the following cancellation charges:

  • Earlier than 20 days before the start of the tour programme: 10% of the rates
  • Between 15 and 20 days before the start: 60% of the rates
  • Between 7 and 14 days before the start: 80% of the rates
  • Less than 7 days before the start or cancellation without notice: No refund will be made.

Note: Processing fee of 3% would be charged for the above mentioned cancellation policy.
